The General Preparation Program is the solid foundation established by Almaarefa University to help students embark on their academic journey with ease, supporting them in overcoming its challenges through a comprehensive study plan tailored to the needs of each professional specialization. This begins with the English Language Program, which represents the primary concern for students of health-related disciplines, in addition to equipping them with essential skills and general knowledge required throughout their educational journey.

The success of the educational process begins with the student and ultimately rests with them, as they determine their ability to confront challenges, overcome difficulties, navigate obstacles, and refuse to surrender to them. University study requires strength and resilience, enabling students to continue their academic journey with ease when they are equipped with the skills and competencies that support progress—such as diligence, discipline, critical thinking skills, time management, responsibility, and commitment.

Introductory Overview

Aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its main pillars, the General Preparation Program at Almaarefa University strives to achieve the highest standards of excellence in developing the skills of incoming students. The first year serves as a fundamental gateway to strengthening the competencies necessary for lifelong learning.

Mission Equipping students with the skills necessary for university study and providing quality education in an environment that fosters creativity and innovation.

Program Content

The program focuses on four main pillars for student development:

The program includes three levels (101, 102, 104) and specialized courses, taught by a group of native speakers to raise the student’s linguistic proficiency.
It aims to reduce the knowledge gap between high school and university through courses such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and statistics.
Developing positive communication capabilities, teamwork, and scientific research and self-learning skills.
Courses that expand horizons such as Islamic culture, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence in healthcare.

English Language Program

Najm 101 (English – 1)

Hours: 5 credit hours (20 actual).

Exemption: 30 Oxford (IELTS 3.5).

*Note: Medical students require 40 grades for admission.

Najm 102 (English – 2)

Hours: 5 credit hours (20 actual).

Exemption: 60 Oxford (IELTS 5.0).

* A prerequisite for registering specialization subjects.

Najm 104 (English – 3)

Especially for students of medicine and surgery.

Exemption: 70 Oxford (IELTS 5.5).
